Weaklings, eat your veggies!

veggie tales?

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. One man’s faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.”

Ah, good old Romans. Always correcting me, giving me solid ground to stand on, and reminding me of the things I should already have learned.

Simple, right? Stop judging one another – for each one of us is at a different spot on the map on our journey with Jesus. And He deals with us each – yes each one - as an individual. That’s why we have a PERSONAL relationship…

Still it’s hard to apply this. We don’t dispute so much about meat and veggies anymore. But we do judge others for watching a certain TV show or listening to a certain type of music, or even going to a different type of church. And I think that’s where Romans 14 becomes personal, applicable, alive.

If somebody loves Jesus, and is therefore walking with Him, that person is a bondservant to Jesus. We have no place to judge. We can discern – encourage – correct (by the Word of God), but we cannot pass our opinion and judgement. Instead, let us consider how we might spur each other on towards love and good works!

Keep on keeping on, brothers and sisters!
